Koh Chang (Elephant island) is one of Thailand's most beautiful islands with long white sandy beaches, mostly half deserted. It’s a second largest island in Thailand. Having relatively mountainous landscape with beautiful beaches to the west, the island boosts a wide range of wildlife, including variety of birds, deer, snakes, and a number of elephants, many of which are rare sights outside of the island. For most visitors, the main feature of the island is the beaches. Koh Chang’s beaches are known for their unique charm – those that you will find only in Koh Chang. For example in Koh Chang you can find a lonely beach shack that serves up cocktails and watch the sunset sipping your favorite tonics. Or find a world class spa that tucks away in the tropical forest. In a word, it doesn’t get much more exotic than Koh chang.
Most resorts and hotels are on the western side, dotted along the sandy beaches, and you can enjoy all the beach activities or head out to visit coral the reefs and the marine life which are aplenty. If you explore further to the east you probably won’t find your postcard perfect sandy beaches but the communities there are intact and it makes for great home stay and eco-tourism. Most part of the island is quite undisturbed, especially the inner part, and you will find the whole range of rainforest, wildlife, hills, cliffs, and waterfalls.
